Who doesn't love a good rummage in a charity shop!
For such a small Island, we sure do have a lot of charity shops here in Guernsey. But really... who doesn't love a good rummage in a charity shop!
Buying pre-loved not only saves people money, but it also prevents perfectly usable items from sitting in landfill. Clothing items can be found in all charity shops here in Guernsey. The clothing items available do tend to be more for ladies, but I guess that's because we just buy more in the first place! Charity shops do also stock a range of men's, baby and children's clothing. Most charity shops here in Guernsey even have a changing room where you can try on your new outfit before you take it home. Posh eh!
And it’s not just clothes that can be found in the charity’s shops. Each store is a treasure trove of used books, toys, games, DVDs, video games, and household items. Many items you find in a charity shop are brand new and all are in good condition. A charity shop won't accept any broken or damaged items, and (most) electrical items are tried and tested before arriving on the shop floor. So you can pretty much guarantee that you've just grabbed yourself a bargain!
And of course, if you're having a clear out, consider donating your old stuff to a charity shop. It's often a good idea to call the charity shop before you load up your car as sometimes the charity shops can get overwhelmed with donations and they simply don't have the space and storage to take any more donations.
Also, sometimes the charity shops cannot accept particular items as they already have too many. So give them a quick call before you load up the car to check if they're open and if they are happy to accept what you want to donate.
